In today’s HCS Update blog, posted over on Waypoint, Tashi revealed that Sentinels player Lethul and coach Royal 1 have been fined for their social media posts after finding out about team member Royal2’s suspension.
Royal 1’s conduct, as evidenced by his December 12, 2021 tweets, violated the HCS Code of Conduct, specifically Non-Disparagement and Treatment of League Officials. HCS determined Royal 1’s conduct to be severe disparagement of HCS Administration and severe mistreatment of League Officials. Therefore, the Administration has issued a fine against Royal 1 for severe disparagement of HCS Administration, and for severe mistreatment of League Officials.
Lethul’s conduct, as evidenced by his December 12 – 13, 2021 tweets, violated the HCS Code of Conduct. Specifically Non-Disparagement and Sportsmanship. HCS determined Lethul’s conduct to be severe disparagement of 343i and HCS Administration, and Social Media Misconduct. Therefore, the Administration has issued a fine against Lethul for severe disparagement of 343i and HCS Administration, and for Social Media Misconduct.
The typical penalties for Severe Disparagement are a $1,000 fine and/or suspension (minimum) and a $3,000 fine and indefinite suspension (maximum). For Severe Mistreatment of League Officials, its typically a $1,000 fine and/or suspension (minimum) and $2,000 fine and indefinite suspension (maximum). Violation of Social Media Misconduct typically results in a $500 fine and/or suspension (minimum) and $1,000 fine and/or indefinite suspension (maximum).
We don’t know exactly what the total amount of fines were, but we’re going to take a guess and say it was the minimum being that the maximum typically includes suspension and the two did not receive any. However, the keyword in the phrasing from the Code of Conduct is “typical” so the amounts could have been more.
